There is a surprising graceful fineness around the overall design of the new UI for an open beta release. It's fast with some light pauses here and there. Running on 2011 13 inch 1.7 Ghz i5 MBA w/256 SSD (Samsung) I carved out a 35 GB partition on the SSD to try it out. ![]() (My wife would kill me, if I somehow broke our main machine by putting beta software on it! ) and that's just not going to happen until it gets out of beta. Oh my.)Īlas, the features which I'm most interested in exploring (Continuity and Handoff) are the ones which require me to update all of my devices. From a purely practical view, there really doesn't appear to be much of a difference. I actually had my Mini sitting next to my iMac temporarily, so I got to compare Mavericks and Yosemite quite literally side-by-side. Other then that, it looks pretty good to me no overwhelming stability issues, and the aesthetic changes are seriously not that big of a deal. didn't have much time to explore it last night, but I did notice some issues with Time Machine. ![]() I'll be submitting my first bug report tonight. ![]() (Ironically, I was already in the middle of the installation process when my notification that it was available came from Apple.) Installed to my 2012 Mac Mini with no problems, here - though, I can't say how long it took, because I was busy putting kids to bed while it installed.
